General Motors launched the revolutionary Ampera at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2009. A right-hand drive Vauxhall model will go into production in 2012.

The Ampera is an electric car with with the wheels turned electrically at all times and speeds. For journey up to around 40-miles it runs on electricity stored in the battery and emits zero CO2. When the battery is depleted the onboard engine-generator extends the range to more than 300 miles.

The Ampera can be plugged into any household 240 volt socket for charging.
